How do you fix an outside water leak? #diyplumbing #plumbing
Did it leak after you fixed it? Probably not so job well done! Functionality is key in this situation!
Where are you from? There is a gaming youtuber that sounds identical to you and I've never in all my life heard someone sound like that lol!
I need a video on how to replace the OLDER type of Mansfield flush valve seal gaskets. The big black ones. I think it's probably simple, but I haven't seen it done.
I ran into the same issue when I try to replace my faucet. My easy solution was to use longer screws and cut the washer to fit.
Sounds like you had it under control fairly quickly!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
you should have just sweated it off you cowboy.
If I had known what was inside I probably would have started that way. Thanks for watching and leaving us a comment!!
dude I'm a plumber, i would have been upset if you opened my floor and then rerouted it into the attic. you should have just rerouted to begin. take the leak detection tool sound tool, touch the manifold you will hear the leak without opening any floors.
The plan definitely did not unfold the way I had envisioned. Thanks for watching and leaving us a comment!!
Why did u rip it apart and then cut them past the joint? Seems like a waste of time or or some RUclips money magic
I would go with the YT money magic part of the theory 😂😂😂! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
Well if ya wanna know I just paid $13,000.00 for a one day wreck haul and replace from tub and shower to three wall shower only and they used the same damn thickness of 1/8th plastic same color as Menards and they only had to plumb the new shower control to exsisting new pvc hot and cold and new pvc drain lines I had previously replaced nothing else at all took out old tub from the1940s and put a pvc shower base down and connected to all new already installed plumbing literally one guy while the other two ran around doing other jobs in the area and I’m mentally impaired legally and the wife works an easy 60 hours a week and I’m so depressed rom the desicion but hey they did what they said they would do and I can’t do it any more cause i can’t move like I used to now my wife is gonna be gone a couple more years working to pay off $13,000.00 and that’s two more years I won’t be with her when she’s awake well any way I wish there was a way I could have done it my self but I guess all there is is working until you can’t any more but that’s life and you gotta learn to kill a lot of pride when you can’t do the work yourself but hey at least I did all the other updates myself is the only way to look at it in a healthy way to live!
Hmmm 13k for 1 day job. Sound like your exaggerating or unaware of actual scope of work
I definitely do not mean to sound harsh but did you sign a contract before they started ?
Shark bites are your best friend.
I always think the shark bite support is gonna get some comments . Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
This guy lousey plumber? 🤡
Why do you say this my friend?
He did it so we can see that it was the pre filled fittings.-As his product looks the same.He then proceeded to install “the right way” the right product
All true , thanks so much! Thanks so much for watching our video!
Dude! You cut the coupling and still ended up making 2 cuts wtf??? 😂😂😂
I was just curious why it leaked. I thought I was gonna make a different type of video about solder joints. Thanks for asking and thanks for watching!
I don’t think that was Pro Press, that was one of the ones that have solder in it already. I actually try to make a Pro Press in to one of those, when I was bored but it didn’t work.
I believe you are right about the fitting after reading all of these comments. I never knew about them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That fitting doesn't look like a pro press fitting. It looks like a solder fitting that was sold at Lowe's and Home Depot around 2005-2010-ish.
That seems to be the general consensus my friend. I never knew about them. Thanks so much for watching our video!
Oh yea I’ve seen those pre filled solder fittings in clearance section. 😆 go figure
From a plumbing supply house or big box home store?
They almost always are that close to the rim of the sink
The ones I normally do have at least enough room for the mounting hardware. Thanks for sharing your experience with us . Thanks for watching our video also!
I’m really confused why he just didn’t cut it in the first place
The sole purpose was to look inside the fitting and check out the solder joint from the inside. You are definitely not the only person to ask about it. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
No they freeze and break
It is starting to look like people don’t have good things to say about these fittings so far. Thanks for watching and leaving us a comment!
Why not just put a frost free on it while your at it. Even texas freezes sometimes
Propress hack
This really hurts my feelings 😂! I am so sorry you don’t approve of the pro press😂😂😂! Thanks for sharing your opinion and watching our video!
It seems I don’t have to say it but I’m saying it anyways…that was NOT a pro press fitting, it was a pre soldered fitting done wrong
Looks like they used the same fitting you used but they soldered theirs because it leaked, why didn't you just cut it out and put solder joints and not all the drama of taking the first joint out?
This was an usual occurrence of seeing this fitting done like this. We cut it apart to see how the solder reacted to this type fitting and to our surprise the copper pipe wasn’t even made up. Thank you for watching!
Absolutely not I'll never ever have copper in any house I ever live in ever again it's 100% PEX!!
We love copper in right situations/applications , but agree PEX is a great product!
So they pressed the fitting and then solder it and it wasn't in all the way someone that had no idea what to do is responsible for that
Donald, we agree with you on that one! We are only as good as we are taught. Thank you for watching and commenting !
Everything in the real world can't fit in a book. Some things you have to figure out yourself.
I do love this comment! I completely agree. Thanks for watching our video!!
You got set up, man.
Good theory, but it was a legit boo boo😂
What size if my center is exactly 11”
Some 12” kit combos will still fit . It just depends on the manufacturer. You might want to go with a 10 “ to be safe and just accept the fact it is gonna be off the wall a little.
Why did you tear the joint apart and not just cut the fitting out to size?😂
So we could all the quality of the solder joint. Basically for fun😂 . Thanks for watching!
They should make an outside faucet that has a built-in vacuum breaker like a frost-free hose bib with a vacuum breaker of course
I just looked and woodford makes at least one .
@@TappPlumbing we don't use anything but frost-free hose bibs in this area but my supplier is a Woodford dealer and I'll check into that thank you
The pressed fitting leaked or they didnt have the press tool and they just soldered.
Many people have commented it is a a pre soldered fitting. Thanks for watching our video!
I wish it was this easy with my drain plug. It drives me crazy because I need a screwdriver to unscrew it and then remove it because I can't unscrew the top! It honestly sucks.
Maybe you could find an after market replacement that is a little easier to deal with. Keep us posted if you have time please.
Smart plumbing
Thanks!
What if its not locked and the reset button is not pushed put to be able to push it back in and reset it I can hear humming sound when i turn it on but its not turning spinning. What now?
So the wrench is not turning the motor? Watch the full video and see if it helps😊 ruclips.net/video/kkRwGjczfhE/видео.htmlsi=tmO80yfCe18gpUQL
@@TappPlumbing Yes, the wrench does turn the motor, its not jammed, but after I turn it on the motor doesn’t spin it just makes that humming/buzzing noise. If I leave it on for a while the motor over heats too. I’ve reset it and unplugged it and still nothing. 🫤 I tripple check and theres nothing jammed on the teeth because when I turn it with my hand and the wrench it does spins around but when I turn it on it doesn’t turn.
It sounds like the pin sheared off . I am afraid it is gonna be time for a replacement my friend. Good luck and keep us posted please!
@@TappPlumbing Yes, that was the case, It had no life left, I had to replace it. Thank you.
No
What does the vacuum breaker do exactly? My house in NYC didn’t have them but my house down in the south has them.
The vacuum breaker prevents water from siphoning back through the water hose into main water system. Great question!
Since you live in new york, frost free spigots come with vacum breakers built into them. I only know this because, i grew in western Tennessee and moved to new Hampshire with my family when i was 17. Down south its rare to find a frost free spigot due to not having to deal with near freezing or below freezing temperatures. Water mains in Tennessee are only 2ft to 3ft in the ground, in new Hampshire is 4ft to 6ft in the ground.
I just replace the sillcock along with vacuum breaker. Not making a trip to use grinder wheels and 15-25min of my time for that. Undo 2 screws, unscrew from threads, and teflon pipe dope twist new one on with new screws and some caulk on the back side of sillcock and your good to go
That is great Harry! Yes time saved is always a good factor however this spigot was soldered so that was not the more cost effective way to go for this client. Thank you for watching and we are glad your replacement was easy!
Nice job for that situation. Imagine someone trying to desolder that coupling cursing pulling on the pipe and wondering why it won’t come apart lol.
You’re right ! What a booger that would be! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I would use some 15% silver hard solder, just filled the pinhole no coupling.
Yes that was an option, but we are thankful this solution worked as we feel this was a long term solution and the clients would not worry if the silver solder would blow out. We know it probably would not have but the clients concern made us want to give them this solution and we are thankful it all worked out. Thank you for watching Gavin!
At least you had good access. CPVC is a pain
It was a pretty nice little job to do for sure . I agree about the cpvc , so brittle! Thanks for watching our video!
If you are asking us to guess if you come down on price, then my guess is that you did! Great job!
You would be correct! She was very sweet and I definitely wanted to keep her happy.
I don’t have a reset button
That would be very odd my friend.
Grinder why ??
So we could all see what was in it.
This is a common occurrence in Arizona
I just ran across another one today . I stopped turning it before something happened and went to find the meter. It was the main house stop.
Where is the water going once capped off?
The cap retains it .
Pro press dose fail.
That doesn’t happen around here very often . Thanks for watching our video and commenting!!
We can see that the cause of the leak was the pipe not being pushed into the fitting enough. As others have pointed out, it's a solder-ring fitting. These are common in the UK.
I would like to know the actual benefits of using them? I looked them up and they are very expensive plus you still have to use a torch!
@@TappPlumbingthey make sure they have the exact amount of solder needed to makes sure that it has solder across the whole section of the pipe inside (when doing it the usual way you might not Put enough flux and solder on so might only sealing the gap at the end if you don't know what your doing) As what happened here person using it didn't understand how to use it and pushed the pipe in by 3mm ish only and then soldered it manually, if they had pushed it all the way and heated it up it would have sealed correctly every time, it should be idiot proof (or I thought it was)
@@leexgx I am not sure if there is anything to do with plumbing that is idiot proof 😂. Thanks for watching our video and commenting!
This the one I have. The other video didn't help
We are glad this was helpful!!
Good job
Thank you.
My hose has a washer and still leaks and sprays like crazy😢
Maybe there a small split in the hose itself?
Same
A better solution to this is to use a bidet. No tp needed. Problem solved.
Ha,well I guess that may be a solution to no toilet paper, however the pump still has to pump the liquids and solids therefore they still wear out unfortunately . Thank you for your suggestion, watching and commenting!
@@TappPlumbing agreed everything wears out eventually. But pumping straight water probably puts less load on the pump compared to solid waste.
